Meet our Team - Rajesh Deshmukh - Consultant Eye Surgeon

I work as a Practice Manager for Mr Deshmukh at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Bishops Wood Hospital. My role is to make sure the patient’s experience from the initial consultation until after surgery is enjoyable and as smooth and possible.

I really enjoy being a part of patient’s journey when it comes to improving their eyesight. This is a life changing experience and very satisfactory to see happy patients.

I have worked for many years within the private health sector and have been part of Mr Deshmukh’s team for several years. I work mainly for Bishops Wood Hospital patients and am there to provide help and support with making and arranging appointments

My role is mostly to ensure that the clinics are managed well and the patients have sufficient time to have any testing carried out and to be seen by Mr Deshmukh. I correspond with GPs and local opticians and other professionals to ensure that continuity of care is maintained.

I qualified as a doctor from St Bartholomew’s Hospital , University of London in 1993. After a short period in general medicine and general surgery I embarked on a post graduate training program in anaesthesia at University College London.

Additionally I completed a clinical fellowship in Melbourne Australia before a research fellowship at Moorfields. I have been a consultant at Moorfields for 19 yrs
